My first topic was to study different cartoonists and then come up with my own style of making cartoons and finally designing a range of products with the illustrations on them. since I did not find any takers for the proposal, the idea was dropped.
I presented my second option, that was, to do a project takink myself as a client and doing a self promotion. This includedc doing a branding excercise for myself, designing a font and advertising myself. This concept did interest some of us but the problem was that we already needed to do our portfolio for another module so it was dropped.
My next proposal was to study a range of bollywood posters and understand the trends in them. I wanted to design a book that compiles my findings and the posters. This was exciting for the majority of audience including me. So i zeroed in on this topic and went on to do some pre-research that would help me formulate a reasonable proposal for the same.
I started reading some case studies, articles blogs on the net and found a very interesting link which was a compilation of different posters from 1930 to 2010.

Notes: From this online book I concluded the following
- There were very few black and white posters. The black and white films also had coloured posters.
- Raj Kapoor was a person who experimented a lot with his film posters.
- There was minimal text being used till the time there were hand painted posters.
- There was not much experimentation that was happening with the fonts and it was mostly blocky and 3D in nature.
- It was only in late 80s and early 90s that digitalisation entered the industry.
- there were films which used hand painted and digital methods simultaneously to design a poster.
