I discussed my proposal with Sumita mam and went deeper into the topic. I changed the main question a bit and made a mind map for the same. I put down the points which I wanted to find an answer to. This helped me narrow down my brief and form a more concrete research question.

What is the theme or topic area that you are hoping to investigate in your research project?

What are the trends in the look and feel of bollywood posters and typefaces? How could they be different for different goners of films and different audiences?

Can you identify two or more questions that the research will help you go some way towards answering?
- What caused the change in the look and feel of film posters from 1931 to 2010?
- How would different audiences react to different kinds of posters showed to them?
- Does a poster influence the viewer to see the film?
- How has the audience influenced the change in trends of designing a poster?
- What aspect of film making is kept in mind before doing a poster and deciding the typeface for them?

What sort of approaches will you employ to collect data for your research enquiry? For example, if you were going to interview students – how many would you interview? What sorts of themes would you be questioning them about?
Interview people from 15yrs to 85yrs –5 interviews from each bracket(15–20 yrs, 20-25..)
Questionnaires from the above mentioned age groups – 10 from each bracket

Interview professionals – poster artists (past and present)
Interview type artists
Interview people with keen interest in bollywood- people who collect posters, have their own libraties

What is the purpose of your research? Why is it useful?
Bollywood has been a fast changing and by an large the biggest industry in India. It has undergone numerous changes, from movie styles, acting, songs, etc to promotional techniques. It’s posters, names and typefaces have also had their share of evolution.
I want to study what made this transformation happen. Knowing the fact that Bollywood has always been a trend setter and very influential in people’s lives, I want to understand how people influenced the change in Bollywood and how the new digitalized creatives altered the trend of the society.
The research will help me understand the trends in the film industry and how people react to old and new ways of putting across the same ideas.
